Goodbye Waiting Rooms

Virtual Primary Care Services refer to healthcare services that are provided remotely through virtual or online platforms. Instead of visiting a physical clinic or doctor’s office, individuals can access primary care services from the comfort of their homes or any location with an internet connection. The goal is to increase accessibility to healthcare, improve patient convenience, and enhance overall healthcare outcomes. It is especially valuable for routine check-ups, minor illnesses, prescription refills, and general health concerns that don’t necessarily require an in-person visit to a medical facility.

FAQ

Our virtual primary care visits are all video visits.
You will get labs drawn at a lab location close to you.
No. However, it is possible to perform a limited guided physical exam. While this offers the opportunity to be seen by a provider, it is not appropriate for everyone and in all circumstances.

What is Digital Physical Exam?

A digital physical exam, also known as a remote physical exam or virtual physical exam, is a medical assessment conducted using digital technologies and tools to evaluate a patient’s health status remotely. While traditional physical exams are typically performed in-person by a healthcare provider, digital physical exams allow for the assessment of certain aspects of a patient’s health using virtual platforms, mobile apps, and other digital devices.

Here’s how a digital physical exam may be conducted:

  • Video Consultation

The patient connects with a healthcare provider via video conferencing software or telehealth platform. During the video consultation, the provider can observe the patient’s appearance, behavior, and overall demeanor, and ask questions about their medical history, symptoms, and current health concerns.

  • Self-Examination

The healthcare provider may guide the patient through a self-examination process to assess specific aspects of their health. This may include instructions on how to check vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature using digital devices such as home blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, and digital thermometers.

  • Visual Inspection

The patient may be asked to use a digital camera or smartphone to capture images or videos of specific areas of concern, such as skin lesions, wounds, or rashes. The healthcare provider can then review these images remotely to make diagnostic assessments and treatment recommendations.

  • Physical Manipulation

While certain aspects of a physical exam cannot be replicated digitally, such as palpation and auscultation, some assessments can be approximated. For example, the patient may be guided to perform range-of-motion exercises or joint mobility tests to evaluate musculoskeletal health.

  • Diagnostic Devices

Some digital physical exams incorporate the use of specialized diagnostic devices that can be used by patients at home to collect medical data. For example, handheld otoscopes and stethoscopes equipped with digital cameras and sensors allow patients to capture images and sounds of the ears, nose, throat, and chest for remote assessment by healthcare providers.

Digital physical exams offer several benefits, including increased accessibility to healthcare services, reduced travel time and costs for patients, and the ability to monitor patients remotely, particularly in situations where in-person visits are not feasible or practical. However, it’s important to note that digital physical exams have limitations and may not fully replace traditional in-person assessments in all cases.
